The article's main goal is to examine the implications of the thesis that the key factor distinguishing human creativity, including poetry, from nonhuman creation is the context of creation and the author's history. Using the analogy of mass-produced cakes, the author argues that the absence of human intervention in the creative process results in works that lack emotional and biographical depth, or their unique “flavor.”
