Second Avant Peripatetic Workshop
“The Language of Science and Its Ecosystem.” Second Avant Peripatetic Workshop, April 27–29, 2026, Athens (Greece)
General Description
The workshop—primarily peripatetic—is dedicated to the language of science in both scientific and non-scientific contexts. In our project, what do we mean by the language of science? Among other things, it encompasses conceptual frameworks and constraints, the non-trivial role and history of which we analyze. We are interested in the bridging nature of the language of interdisciplinary research. We discuss types of communication barriers, including those related to science popularization. We explore how novice researchers acquire scientific communication skills. We also discuss the role of metaphors in developing theories and entire disciplines, as well as the role of scientific narratives. We assess the role of visualization in science and multimodal communication. We analyze the rhetoric of scientific publications. Additionally, we explore the exclusivity and inclusivity of scientific language.
