Author Guidelines

I. Introduction
1. We accept manuscripts that match the aims and scope of the journal, described at the page About us / General information. Manuscripts should be written in correct English. They cannot contain personal data of the author.
2. All manuscripts must be submitted online via OJS.
3. The editors determine whether the manuscript is suitable for review. The peer reviewing process takes up to two months (solicited papers) or longer (unsolicited papers). The written peer reviews are sent to the authors.
II. Article processing charges
There are no charges for submission and publication of articles in “Avant”.
III. Authorship
1. The texts have to be original, not published and should not be sent simultaneously to peer review nor publishing to other journals.
2. Editors check submitted manuscripts for plagiarism.
3. The prevention of publication malpractice is first the responsibility of the authors and our editors. The authors declare no conflicts of interest regarding the texts submitted for review and publication.
4. In cases where the authors refer to their original research, the editors will issue a request for a statement regarding the financing of said research.
5. If the author wants to use copyrighted material (photographs, graphics, etc.) he should obtain the official permission from the respective copyright holder.
6. Our publication ethics is mainly based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
IV. Types of articles
The journal publishes following types of peer-reviewed texts:
* Book reviews (1 500 – 5 500 words)
* Opinions, comments and discussions (1 000 – 4 000 words)
* Articles with posters (1 000 – 3 000 words)
* Mini-reviews (2 000 – 4 000 words)
* Full length analysis and reviews (6 000 – 16 500 words)
* Original research articles (3 000 – 12 000 words)
Word count includes references and any footnotes.
Articles that are formally unusual, innovative or "avant-garde" are distinguished as "Avant Articles".
V. Submissions should include:
A. Manuscript (anonymised), i.e. the main document, containing: a list of keywords (minimum five), an abstract (up to 300 words or a graphic abstract), the main text of the article, a references, as well as information where figures or tables and should appear (for example [insert Figure 1.]). Section titles (if applicable) should be numbered. The text should contain no information that would identify the author. The manuscript should be submitted preferably as .doc, .docx or .odt document. Upload it to the system as the main file.
B. Title page, which includes: title of the article; headline (abbreviation of the title); full details of the authorship, name and surname, affiliation, e-mail address, short biographical note of the author (up to 100 words), ORCID iD (if applicable), information on the source of funding (if applicable). Upload it to the system as an auxiliary file.
C. Cover letter (it does not apply to solicited papers). Upload it to the system as an auxiliary file.
D. Figures, tables etc. (if applicable) (extension: .png, .jpg, .tiff, .gif, .bmp; minimal resolution: 300 dpi). Upload them to the system as auxiliary files.

VII. Peer reviewing process
1. Copies of the manuscript without author’s personal data are sent to two or more external peer reviewers. The peer reviewing process is double-blind.
2. The peer review process in “Avant” is done by specialists in their disciplines. They are outside of the Editorial Board, Advisory Board and the publishing house management. They declare no conflicts of interest.
3. The anonymous peer reviews (in written form) include evaluations of the manuscripts and eventual suggestions of amendments.
VIII. Final stage
1. The final PDF file of the article ("proof") will be sent to author for review.
2. The copyright remains with the author. The standard licence is CC BY-NC-ND.
